MCHES-CECH Events through SERVE, Inc.

SERVE Inc., a nonprofit support corporation for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, offer MCHES Events that lead to NCHEC approved Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECHs). Unless otherwise stated, these Events include multimedia presentations and related self-study activities. (The SERVE, Inc. NCHEC Provider Number is 113885.)

 

The Enrollment and Activity Process

Upon enrolling in an Event, the MCHES will receive login and password information that will provide access to the presentation and guidelines to complete the CECH Event. An instructor/mentor will also be identified to answer questions.

Activity 201-001 A and B - The Virtual Academy: History and Advocacy Health Education

The Virtual Academy (VA) is a video archive of historical and philosophical thoughts of selected leaders and scholars in the field of health education. More specifically the VA;

  • establishes a video library of the thoughts of leaders and scholars in health education,
  • highlights historical markers in the field of health education that have shaped the profession, and
  • creates a historical tree of health education professional preparation training.

 The VA scholars and leaders archive includes presentations from: John Allegrante, Noreen Clark, Robert Gold, Lawrence Green, Nicholas Iammarino, Lloyd Kolbe, Marshall Kreuter, William Kane, Larry Olsen, Guy Parcel, Thomas O’Rourke, John Seffrin, Richard St. Pierre, Cynthia Symons, Alyson Taub, Mohammad Torabi, Robert Valois, and William Yarber.

Activity 201-002 A  Integrating Aging Concepts into Health Education

This video based self-study activity is worth 7 Category I CECHs and will cover issues related to aging and senior care in the United States. The activity is divided into four (4) modules as follows.

This video-based course is designed to provide 7 Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECHs) in the area of Alcohol and Behavior.  The video series is focused on alcohol in a college population but much of the material has implication for alcohol use and abuse across the lifespan.  The Alcohol and Behavior videos are 4 modules as outlined below.

Activity MCHES 202-006 Issues in Environmental Health

This video-based activity will provide 8 Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECHs) in the area of Environmental Health.  The three videos in this course emphasize the biological and population factors of environmental health  and briefly discusses other topics such as air pollution and water pollution.  This Event consists of three modules as outlined below.  Each module has an accompanying PowerPoint.
