SERVE Inc., a nonprofit support corporation for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, offers CHES Events that lead to NCHEC approved Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECHs). Unless otherwise stated, these Events include multimedia presentations and related self-study activities. (The SERVE, Inc. NCHEC Provider Number is 113885.)

 

The Enrollment and Activity Process

Upon enrolling in an Event, the CHES will receive login and password information that will provide access to the presentation and guidelines to complete the CECH Event. An instructor/mentor will also be identified to answer questions.

Activity 101-001 A, B and C - The Virtual Academy: A Living History of Health Education

The Virtual Academy (VA) is a video archive of historical and philosophical thoughts of selected leaders and scholars in the field of health education. More specifically the VA;

  • establishes a video library of the thoughts of leaders and scholars in health education,
  • highlights historical markers in the field of health education that have shaped the profession, and
  • creates a historical tree of health education professional preparation training.

The VA scholars and leaders archive includes presentations from: John Allegrante, Noreen Clark, Robert Gold, Lawrence Green, Nicholas Iammarino, Lloyd Kolbe, Marshall Kreuter, William Kane, Larry Olsen, Guy Parcel, Thomas O’Rourke, John Seffrin, Richard St. Pierre, Cynthia Symons, Alyson Taub, Mohammad Torabi, Robert Valois, and William Yarber.

 

Three Virtual Academy CHES Options

Option I 101-001A: 15 CECHs, Cost $150. View 9 of the 18 VA video presentations and complete corresponding self-study questions.

Option II 101-001B: 30 CECHs, Cost $270. View all 18 VA video presentations and complete corresponding self-study questions.

This video-based self-study activity is worth 7 Category I CECHs and will cover issues related to aging and senior care in the United States. The activity is divided into four (4) modules as follows.

This video-based activity will provide 8 Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECHs) in the area of Environmental Health.  The three videos in this course emphasize the biological and population factors of environmental health  and briefly discusses other topics such as air pollution and water pollution.  This Event consists of three modules as outlined below.  Each module has an accompanying PowerPoint.
